Parents are Matthew Holt and Ann Harrison both of England.
Matthew was baptized into the Church in 1848, and Ann was baptized in 1849. In 1863 they came to America.
When they arrived, they went to Nebraska where they joined the Daniel D. McArthur Company to come to the Salt Lake Valley.
When they were half the way through the journey, at Chimney Rock, Ann gave birth to a little daughter.
According to history:
“On that bright August morning Daniel D. McArthur, to the delight of the company, announced the birth of a new baby calling her “Little Rose.” The beautiful wild roses blooming around the camp had brought this name to mind. It may have been just a fancy of his, as a thought to cheer them on their way. But even to him, it could not have held much more than the possibility of becoming a nickname. However, everyone took a liking to it and soon they were referring to her as Rose. She was blessed Rosa Ann Holt on September 30, 1863.”
The family arrived in the Salt Lake Valley.
In later life, Rosa married Samuel Hamilton Howard.
She passed away in 1938 in Riverton, Utah at the age of 74. Rosa is buried in the Riverton City Cemetery.
