Robert Platt Needham is the son of John Needham and Sarah Anne Booth both from England. His parents met and were married in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1843.
In 1851, the Needham family joined an “unknown company” to journey with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Great Salt Lake Valley. Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers.
According to some journals, the company arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on October 3. Robert Platt, 3-months-old died of unknown causes. “Family Search” indicates Robert is buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. However, no records could be found to verify the burial site.
