Richard's parents are William Taylor and Mary Ann Dean from England.

The Taylor family came from England to America on the ship “Arkwright”. Richard was the 10th child born to William and Mary. He was excited to board the ship and have a new little brother born on the ship. When they arrived in America, they traveled to Nebraska and joined the Daniel Thompson Company which departed for the Utah Territory on July 24, 1866.

When the Company was in Wyoming, Richard came down with scarlet fever and passed away.

Little four year old Richard was laid to rest in Wyoming on the Mormon Trail.

The Company journal information which listed the Saints that passed away shows:

“Richard Taylor, from Liverpool, England, aged 4 years and 6 months, July 30;”
