Rebecca’s parents were John Pinnock Thirkell and Mary Brown, both from England.

After crossing the ocean to America they joined the Jacob Gates Company to journey to the Salt Lake Valley with other Saints from England.

There was no information as to why Rebecca passed away. Her sister died the next week from “fever”.

11 month old Rebecca is buried on the Mormon Trail in Wyoming.

According to Christopher Arthur Emigrating Company journal, he records:

died Rebecca Thirkell Age 11 months[.] from Brigstock Northamptonshire[.]

In James Farmer journal, he records:

“The child [Rebecca Thirkell] of Bro. Thistle [John Pinnock Thirkell] of Leicester died.”
