Mary’s parents were John Pinnock Thirkell and Mary Brown, both from England.

After crossing the ocean to America they joined the Jacob Gates Company to journey to the Salt Lake Valley with other Saints from England.

Mary Agnes passed away from “fever”. She is buried by a creek, where she passed away in Wyoming.

According to Christopher Arthur Emigrating Company journal, he records:

“DIED Mary Agnes Thirkell—age 6 Years of Brigstock Park Northamptonshire—of Fever—Start[.] Had Buried 1 o clock[.]”

In James Farmer journal, he records:

“Bro. Thistles [John Thirkell’s] little girl [Mary Agnes] died and was buried near this creek[,] aged 6 years[.]”
