Along the way 6-month-old Llewellyn passed away and is buried by Plum Creek, near Lexington, Dawson, Nebraska. (There is no information found as to the cause of his death.)

Mary Carbine's history reads: “Llewellyn was left by the wayside in a lonely grave.”

According to company journals: “Thurs. July 18, 1850. Robert C. Petty lost a child six months old; it was buried in the morning.”
