Josephine’s parents are Joseph Griffiths and Margaret Price, both of England.

They came across the ocean to America and landed in New York. That is where their fourth child was born, a daughter Josephine.

The family then joined the Edward Stevenson Company, which left Nebraska on June 26th.

When the company was near Chimney Rock in Wyoming, little Josephine came down with diarrhea and passed away. Little 5 month old Josephine is buried close by Chimney Rock in Wyoming.

Thomas Wasden, in his company's journal of their journey, said:

“2nd. Fixed up the wagons till dinner time. Pleasant day and in sight of Chimney Rock twenty miles ahead. Traveled 10 miles with a little rain in the evening with the death of Brother Griffith's child, five months old, died of diarreah.”
