Joseph Taylor Doman is the son of Edward Doman and Rosehannah Taylor, both born in England. The Doman family boarded the ship “John Bright” which took them to New York. After arrival, they traveled by train to Nebraska and joined an “unknown company” to journey west to the Great Salt Lake Valley. With other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the company left Nebraska sometime in August.

Disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. After leaving Nebraska, 1-year-old Joseph Taylor passed away of unknown causes. He is buried along the Mormon Trail West.
