Jorgen Sohpus Jorgensen was the first child born to Jens Jorgensen and Marie Møller Sørensen from Denmark. Jens and Marie sailed from Denmark to America on the ship “Waldermeir.” After their arrival, they traveled to Nebraska to join the Leonard G. Rice Company.

Joined with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the couple left Nebraska on August 11, 1867 for The Utah Territory. A month later, Marie gave birth to their son named Jorgen Sohpus. A week later, on September 9, Marie passed away from complications related to the birth and buried along the Mormon trail in Wyoming. Several weeks following, Jorgen passed away from lack of nourishment and was also buried in Wyoming on the Mormon Trail.
