Jesse Gallier is one of two children whose mother is Milbrough Galliers of England. Milbrough and her two sons immigrated from England and came to America. They joined the Joseph S. Rawlins Company to journey to the Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The company left July 15, 1864.
Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. Just three days into the trek west, 1-year-old Jesse passed away from “dysentery.” He is buried near Florence, Nebraska along the Mormon Trail.
