Jensine Larsen is one of seven children born to Anders Larsen and Maren Jensdatter, both of Denmark. After immigrating to America, the family joined the Ansil P. Harmon Company of 1862 to journey to the Great Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. As the company approached Sweetwater, Wyoming, 6-year-old Jensine passed away of undocumented causes. Her little sister, Jacobine, died the previous day before. They are buried along the Mormon Trail, not far from each other.
