Jensine Jensen is the daughter of Peter Christian Jensen and Ane Catherine Olsen, both of Denmark. The family immigrated to America, sailing from Denmark on the ship “Manhattan.” After their arrival, they traveled by train to Nebraska where they joined the Leonard G. Rice Company with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bound for the Salt Lake Valley. The Company left Nebraska on August 11, 1867.

A month later, when the company was in Wyoming, 3-year-old Jensine passed away and was buried alongside the Mormon Trail. With no specific cause of death, it can be assumed that hot days, cold nights, limited food, and the exhaustion of walking took a toll on children.
