Jens' Story

Jen’s parents are Michel or Mikkel Rasmussen and Ingeborg Sorensdatter, both of Denmark.
They traveled with their children from Denmark to America. They joined the James S. Brown Company with other Saints to journey to the Salt Lake Valley, the company left June 14, 1859.
Jens Peter was the 6th child out of 9 children in the family.
According to a family history, one of Jens brothers said:
“Due to exposure, my one brother took sick and died in Laramie, Wyoming.”
In reading the journal of the journey, there were no names mentioned of who passed away, but found one entry that mentioned a person passing away on July 9. No other mention of anyone else passing away, it could be that Jens was the one person.
9 year old Jens is buried near Laramie, Wyoming on the Mormon Trail.
