Jennett Morris was the first child born to Thomas Morris and Ann Morgan both from Wales. Jennett was their first child. After immigrating to America, the family joined the William Morgan Company with other Welch members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to journey to the Great Salt Lake Valley.

Exhaustive travel, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. An excerpt from the William Morgan Company records dated September 20, 1852: “Jennet, the daughter of Thomas and Anne Morris, died from cancer.”

Three-year-old Jennett Morris is buried in Nebraska along the Mormon Trail West.
