Inger Marie Thomassen is the daughter of Thomas Jensen and Ingeborg Christensdatter, both from Denmark. The family of six immigrated from Denmark to America. After arriving, they joined the Samuel A Woolley Company to journey to the Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. According to company journals: “August 2, Inger Marie Thomsen died about 300 miles from Florence and was buried by Schonk creek at the north side of the road."

There was no information as to the cause of Inger’s passing.
