Death:  June 26th, 1850   |   13 years old   |   in Iowa on the Mormon Trail

Horace was born to William Walker Rust of Vermont and Mary Thurston Rand of New Hampshire. William and Mary were married in 1832 in Vermont and were blessed with five children. Horace was their third son.

The Rust Family joined the William Snow/Joseph Young Company to travel West with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Saints to the Salt Lake Valley

On June 21, 13-year-old Horace passed away from cholera (caused by contaminated water or food). He is buried along the Mormon Trail in Iowa.
