Henry Crowther is the fourth of seven children born to John Crowther and Mary Jackson, both from England.
The Crowther immigrated to America on the ship “Monarch of the Sea.” After arriving, they traveled to Nebraska where they joined an unknown company to come to the Utah Territory with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The company arrived in Salt Lake City on October 18, 1864.
Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, premature birth, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. Along the journey, some of the Saints in the Company came down with Rocky Mountain spotted fever, a serious bacterial infection transmitted by ticks, and dysentery.
While traveling through Wyoming, 4-year-old Henry became ill and passed of unspecified causes. He is buried in Wyoming along the Mormon Trail.
