Hans Peter Jensen is the first of 10 children born to Christen Jensen and Ane Magrethe Hansen. They were baptized as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 14, 1862. They immigrated to America on the ship “B.S. Kimball.” After arriving in America, they family traveled to Nebraska and joined an “unknown company” to journey to the Great Salt Lake Valley with other Saints.

Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. After leaving Nebraska, 2-year-old Hans Peter passed away of undocumented causes. He is buried along the Mormon Trail West.
