Ephraim Joseph Hall is the daughter of Daniel Hall Jr. and Jane Duett. Ephraim was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 18, 1858.

The Hall family desired to journey west to the Great Salt Lake Valley with other Saints. They joined the Horton D. Height Company wagon train in 1862.

Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. As the company traveled into Utah, Ephraim suffered from mountain fever. When the company rested in a campground on October 13, Ephraim passed away and is buried by a cave at the campground.
