Elizabeth Jones is the daughter of Jeremiah Jones and Mary Wilson, both from England. After the family immigrated to America, they joined the Joseph Horne Company to journey to the Great Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

When Elizabeth was 7 years old, their family joined the to come West to the Salt Lake Valley.

Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers When the company was in West of Elm Creek in Nebraska, 7-year-old Elizabeth Jones passed away of unknown causes. She is buried there along with others who had also passed away.
