Elizabeth Jensen was 14-yar-old when she joined the Abner Lowry Company to trek to the Great Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The company left Nebraska on August 13, 1866.
Records could not be found regarding Elizabeth’s parents or where she was originally from. She is not listed on ship manifests and there is no record of who she traveled west with. However, many of the members of the Abner Lowry Company with the surname of Jensen originated from England and Scandinavian countries. Many of those saints who immigrated to America on the ship “Covour,” died from cholera (a bacterial disease caused by contaminated water).
Elizabeth passed away two days after leaving Nebraska.
