Elizabeth Freeman is the daughter of Elizabeth Brewer and John Huckbody Freeman, both of England. The couple met while the ship bound to New York. They were married in 1856, and then moved to Wisconsin to be close to family. Elizabeth gave birth to their sixth child, Elizabeth Anna. Sadly, Elizabeth never recovered from giving birth and passed away while in Wisconsin.

Later, the family joined with the Henry W. Miller Wagon Company with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to journey west. On August 5, 1862, the company left Florence, Nebraska Territory, headed for the Salt Lake Valley, Utah Territory.

The company traveled about two weeks when 8-month-old Elizabeth Anna passed away, most likely from insufficient nutrition. Little Elizabeth Anna is buried in Nebraska, along the Mormon Trail.
