Eliza Melissa Hall is the second of 12 children born to Mark Hall and Eliza Melissa Hall, both from New York. Eliza was named after her mother.
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and with a desire to travel west to the great Salt Lake Valley, they joined the Benjamin Gardner Company. When they departed for the west on June 2, Eliza’s mother was expecting a child (Eliza) born later that month. Almost four weeks later, Eliza Melissa Hall died. (Cause of death is unknown.) The baby is buried in Nebraska along the Mormon Trail.
