Eliza Burton is the daughter and one of nine children born to William Burton and Jane Dridge, from England. After immigrating to America, the family joined with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to trek west to the Great Salt Lake Valley.
Cholera was among the diseases that plagued the Saints as they pioneered west. It was cholera that took three of William and Jane's daughters including 17-year-old Eliza. She is buried somewhere on the plains of Wyoming.
