Dale Willard Eynon is the fourth of 12 children born to John Lewis Eynon and Eliza Lewis. Eliza and three children boarded the ship Cynosure to go to immigrate to America. John stayed behind with the plan of joining the family in a year finishing his trade as carpenter and painter. While at sea, Eliza gave birth to a son, Dale Willard, who live for a week. The baby is buried at sea.

When Eliza and her family arrived in America, they traveled to Florence, Nebraska and joined the Rosel Hyde Company to journey west to the Great Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
