Christian Peter Edward Jeppesen is the last of nine children born to Peder Nielsen / Jeppesen from Sigersted Soro Denmark and Caroline Sophia Sorensen from Kirke Hvalsø, Kirke Hvalsø, Roskilde, Denmark. In 1868, the family immigrated to America by sailing on the ship “Emerald Isle” in 1868. After their arrival in America, they traveled west to join the John G. Holman to journey west to The Great Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. As the company was crossing the plains and neared Evanston, Wyoming, 4-year-old Christian passed away of undocumented causes.
Company's records say: “Company record: burial: about September 1868; Evanston, Uinta, Wyoming, United States.”
*Note: Name is listed as Christian Nielsen, but Family Search records list his name as Christian Peter Edward Jeppesen.
