Bine Pedersen is the daughter of Christian Pedersen and Jensine Kristine Sorensdatter, both from Denmark. The Pedersen family left Denmark bound for America on the ship “Kenilsworth.” On the ship, cholera and other diseases broke plagued members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon arriving in America, the family traveled to Nebraska and joined the Peter Nebeker Company to journey to the Great Salt Lake Valley. The Company left Florence on August 7, 1866.

Just eight days before entering Zion, 9-year-old Bine became ill with scarlet fever and passed away. She was wrapped in a piece of fabric (sheet) and buried in a shallow grave in Wyoming along the Mormon Trail.

Bine's sister’s biography records: ““Father and sister Bine were walking, there was some deep water to cross, so they were told to jump into one of the wagons. Bine happened to get into a wagon where they had Scarlett Fever.”

There is a memorial in the Holladay Memorial Park remembering Bine and her brother and sister who died on the Mormon Trail.
