Annie's parents are Edward Maw and Christiana Snell, both from England. When Annie was two months old, her mother Christiana developed a sore throat and died.
The next year, Edward and all four children along with other family members, came over the ocean from Great Britain to America. They joined the Horton D. Height Company to go to the Salt Lake Valley with other Saints. The company departed Nebraska on August 10, 1862.
On August 20, just two days after little Annie celebrated her first birthday, Annie passed away. In journals of the journey, mountain fever was one of the diseases that afflicted the saints from the beginning of the journey.
According to Annie's older sister's remembrance of the journey in part:
“The journey across the plains was long, tiresome and sad. First my baby sister died and was buried.”
Somewhere at the beginning of the journey in Nebraska, little 1 year old Annie passed away and is laid to rest along the Mormon Trail.
