Anne Eliza Snowball is the daughter of Thomas Snowball and Elizabeth Garr from England. The Snowballs and their five children immigrated from England to America and joined the Darwin Richardson Company to travel to the Great Salt Lake Valley with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, prematurity, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. Cholera (a bacterial disease caused from contaminated water) invaded the camp and many died. As the company approached Ft. Bridger, Wyoming, Anne's mother passed away and is buried along with six others in the company.

On July 14th, 16-year-old Anna and her father passed away from mountain fever and are buried near the Green River in Wyoming. It is thought that the graves will never be identified as the river is wider now.

The rest of the children finished their journey to Utah, alone.
