Anna's Story

Anna’s parents are John Johnson and Anna Aolson Guðlaugsdóttir. They were both from Iceland. They joined the church in Iceland, were coming to America when they met and were married on board the ship.
When they arrived in America, they went to Iowa to wait before traveling west with the James S. Brown Company to the Salt Lake Valley. The company was scheduled to leave June 13.
While in Iowa, they were blessed with their first child, a daughter, Anna.
While they were getting ready to leave, little Anna passed away, she was approximately 1 year old, Anna is buried in Iowa by the Mormon Trail West.
According to a journal of the journey, one mentioned the following:
“we had two deaths on the road, a baby and an old man. They were buried by the road side.”
