Andrew Jackson was born to Greene Warren Allred of Tennessee and Amy House of Ohio. He was the fifth of nine children.

The Allred Family joined the David H. Cannon Company, and left for the Salt Lake Valley on June 1, 1861. As they journeyed west, they crossed Rocky Ridge and saw snow on the mountain tops. The nights were bitter cold. On August 2 they crossed Dry Sandy and stopped at Little Sandy where they encountered two families who had lost their mules. It was there that little 11-month-old Andrew passed away. He is buried along the Mormon Trail, east of Green River, Wyoming.
