Amanda Josephina Lundberg is the second of eleven children born to Carl Hendrick Lundberg and Elizabeth Wilhelmine Olsdotter from Norway.

The Lundbergs immigrated to America sailing on the ship “Humboldt.” After arriving in America, the family traveled to Nebraska where they joined the Peter Nebeker Company bound for the Great Salt Lake Valley. With other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Company departed August 7, 1866.

Exhaustive travel conditions, disease, injury, lack of food and medicine, premature birth, and extreme weather were some of the greatest threats to pioneers. While stopped for the evening for dinner and rest, 1-year-old Amanda Josephina fell into a pot of scalding hot water. She passed away from her injuries and is buried on the plains of Wyoming
