Amanda Biddle was the third of nine children born to William Gander Biddle and Elizabeth Heath, both from England. When the Biddle family decided to immigrate to America from England, they joined the Henry William Miller Wagon Company with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to journey to the Great Salt Lake Valley. The company left Nebraska on August 5 for the trek west.

When the company was about two weeks from arriving to the Salt Lake Valley, 2-year-old Amanda became ill and passed away. The cause of death is unknown. She is buried in Wyoming along the Mormon Trail.

Recorded in a company journal of the journey to the Salt Lake Valley: “Oct 4th Got a good Start Roads good. Buried another child campt on Little Sandy many foot Sore & Some Sick.”
